Ihunanya Muruako

Ihunanya Muruako, Information Desk Assistant

IHUNANYA'S PICK: Healthcare Innovation Intern at Ohana Health
APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 27th, 2019

I chose this posting because the Ohana Health Internship Program was described as a "one of a kind" internship experience. It is particularly designed for students with a passion to see positive change in healthcare through entrepreneurship. I liked that the internship focuses on a learning-based approach for its interns to gain skills to pursue future endeavors. The Ohana community gets its fellows to connect and collaborate with other equally passionate people in the pursuit of leveraging innovation to solve some of the biggest problems in healthcare.

To find this internship I started by updating my Handshake profile and my handshake page. Then I refined the picks to tailor them to my needs. Also, geography is an important aspect when looking for places to intern. So I clicked on Washington, DC in the filter options. After sorting through a plethora of other opportunities and their backgrounds, I was able to find this one!

Chelsea Moore

Chelsea Moore, Assistant Director

CHELSEA'S PICK: Communication and Change Management Analyst at Willis Towers Watson
APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 1st, 2019

I chose to highlight this job because I often hear students say that consulting jobs are not available past September. This is a great example of an analyst role that is hiring later in the semester. While some of the big companies do recruit really early, there are lots of business analyst and consulting roles out there. You just have to know how to look!

To find this role, I used the keyword "analyst" in Handshake. This keyword will show analyst positions in many different industries, but it can be a fun way to find jobs with a similar job function across a vast array of organizations. Don't forget to save your search on Handshake when you find filters that are working for you! That way Handshake can start sending you emails with similar jobs so you don't miss them.

Elizabeth Schaller

Elizabeth Schaller, Recruitment Coordinator

ELIZABETH'S PICK: Assistant Brand Manager Internship at Procter & Gamble (P&G)
APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 31st, 2019

Procter & Gamble recruits on campus frequently as they love UM students! They have some powerhouse brands that we all know and love including Bounty®, Charmin®, Crest®, Dawn®, Downy®, Febreze®, Gain®, Gillette®, Olay®, Oral-B®, Pantene®, Tide®, Vicks® and so much more! I liked this position because it's all about their consumers' preferences. You would be a part of discovering when consumers learn about their products, when consumers choose to buy their products, and when consumers use their products at home.

To find this position I used the advanced filters in Handshake, selected Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) within the industry filter, then selected Business Development within the job function filter. It looks like this is a 10-12 week internship open to Undergraduate Juniors. In addition to submitting an application we always recommend to do some networking with alumni through UCAN or LinkedIn who work at P&G.
