University Career Center

**Remote-only Fall 2021 semester**

The University Career Center, in alignment with our other campus career offices, has decided to host all recruiting activities virtually for Fall 2021.

Fall term at University of Michigan - Ann Arbor will be a “transitional semester” as many students and staff will be re-entering the campus in person for the first time in over 18 months.  All recruitment events for Fall 2021 (career fairs, interviews, recruiting events) will be conducted virtually. This will allow us to provide an equitable and accessible experience for all students and employers involved in the recruiting process.

Virtual events have been successful this past year and are familiar to most students. Employers have hosted virtual company information sessions, Ask Me Anything chats, workshops on job search skills, discussions with U-M alumni or other employees at their organization, and any number of other interactions with students.

Please set up your session to be hosted on your organization's preferred video platform (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, etc), then create an event listing on the Handshake recruiting platform at least one week prior to the session in order to promote it to students.

We will continue to work with your recruiting team to help facilitate student engagement that ensures strong connections are made between your organization and our students.

Plans for Winter 2022 recruiting activities are still to be determined. Here is information for booking space on campus should you wish to plan ahead for the possibility of being on campus:

Reserving space on campus

We recommend that you contact University Conference & Event Services or Palmer Commons to reserve space for your information sessions.  Students from all class levels and fields of study are familiar with these venues.  Because venues can fill up quickly especially during peak times, we recommend you book your presentation space well in advance for the most room and date options.  To maximize attendance at your event, we advise hosting it no earlier than one week after classes begin each semester. Refer to the University academic calendar for this and other important dates.

Listing your event on

Once you have confirmed your presentation date, time, and location you may enter these details and a description as an event through your account on Handshake, our online recruiting system. University of Michigan students will then be able to see it from their own Handshake accounts and it will be included in our office calendar of events, as well as Happening@Michigan.
