Workforce Recruitment Program

Workforce Recruitment Program

What is WRP?

WRP is a federal government sponsored recruitment and referral program that connects college students and recent graduates with disabilities to paid summer internships and full-time positions. WRP is managed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity (ODMEO).

What are the Benefits of WRP?

  • You can get connected to paid internships and full-time positions with federal and private sector employers.
  • You will have a supportive community to help you develop your skills for future employment
  • You will learn how to market skills to employers

Who is Eligible for WRP?

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Are eligible for hiring under the Schedule A Hiring Authority
  • WRP eligibility requirements: Current, part- or full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate students with disabilities, and recent graduates who received a postsecondary degree on or after April 1, 2024 from a U.S. accredited college or university, are eligible to apply for WRP this fall.

Because the federal government sponsors this program, all participants must be United States citizens.

This program is intended to assist people with disabilities that substantially limit activities of daily living in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended.

Student Registration and Application Process

Joining the WRP talent database for students and recent graduates is a two-step process.

  1. The first step is eligibility verification. Students and recent graduates will select Students Register Now! on WRP.gov beginning August 17th and be linked to a custom USAJOBS.gov post. Students and recent graduates will apply to the posting by uploading a Schedule A letter/proof of disability and an unofficial or official transcript from the school they currently attend or recently graduated from. This step must be completed by October 4.
    1. Communication: Applicants will receive a confirmation email once they submit. Within a few weeks, the WRP team will notify the applicant if they are eligible, ineligible, or if they must submit more or revised documentation.
    2. Please note: Applicants must submit by October 4 to receive an application review from WRP staff. WRP staff will communicate with applicants if documentation needs to be revised.
  2. The second step occurs after WRP staff have reviewed and confirmed the applicant is eligible for WRP based on their uploaded documents. Eligible applicants will receive an email from [email protected] inviting them to create a WRP Talent Program profile. They have 30 days to upload a 1–2-page resume and provide information detailing their academic history, work history, and career interests. This profile and resume will be made available to federal hiring managers for one year.
