University of Michigan/UCC Resources

• Handshake: A pathway to career connections. Through this tool you can: Explore job and internship openings, engage in recruiting activities with employers, and develop and track your goals and next steps. You can also identify University Career Center events, workshops, and fairs and schedule an appointment with a UCC coach to discuss your ideas, and develop plans, and strategies related to graduate/professional schools, and employment.

• The Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS): This organization provides services within the metropolitan Detroit community. The Employment & Training department offers programs designed to help people of all ethnicities. Job and internship opportunities may be found on the site's postings.  
• Diversity Employers | Job Search Engine: This resource includes job and internship postings from employers that indicate that they support diversity.
• IMDiversity: This resource offers information on career-related topics, job opportunities, and ways to make connections to develop a diverse network. 
• Diversity Inc.: This publication offers a section of job listings from the publishers of Diversity Inc., as well as articles and webinars. Included is also a list of “Top 50 for Diversity”.
• INROADS - INROADS assists businesses in gaining greater access to diverse talent through the leadership development of ethnically diverse students. It connects businesses and students via paid internships.

• Resources for People of Color (POCs) in STEM: This site provides a list of scholarships, internships, fellowships, graduate application fee waivers, travel grants, and mentors. Information was created by a First-Generation Ph.D. student.

University of Michigan/UCC Resources

• ​UCAN: UCAN is a U of M resource that allows students to connect with university alumni across any broad spectrum of fields, or majors, to gain insight or advice on resumes, interviewing tips, personal statement advice, and so much more that are part of the Middle East and North Africa Community. When exploring Alumni in the search bar type in Middle East and North Africa and you will see all the alumni that have self-identified. These Alumni are willingly donating their time on this platform to help students any way they can with guiding their future steps beyond college

• American Association Yemeni Student and Professionals: This national organization seeks to identify and mitigate the socio-cultural barriers preventing Yemeni Americans from attaining the highest levels of academic achievement and professional success. It also focuses on promoting the importance of higher education and professional development amongst Yemeni students and professionals. 
• Iraqi American Young Professionals (IAYP): The Iraqi American Young Group is comprised of current college students and recent college graduates of Iraqi heritage currently living in the United States. Thie group offers young professionals opportunities to socialize, network and share information about professional opportunities.  
• Lebnet:  This North America based non-profit organization in Silicon Valley, California, it includes around 1,200 members. It's goals are to offer networking and volunteering opportunities among members to support young professionals and Lebanese Entrepreneurs. LebNet is open to all Lebanese professionals in a broad technology eco-system, residing in the US or Canada. Members include individuals from Fortune 500 and venture capital organizations, start-ups and academia.
• Middle East Studies Association: This non-profit association fosters the study of the Middle East, promotes high standards of scholarship and teaching, and encourages public understanding of the region. The association recognizes professional distinction and defends academic freedom in accordance with its status as a 501(c)(3) scientific, educational, literary, and charitable organization.
• Middle Eastern America Professionals Association: This organization fosters community involvement for the betterment of its community through community education, service projects,  cultural events, and professional networking.
• National Arab American Medical Association: This non-profit organization that serves as a voice for Arab American healthcare professionals. The organization also has student chapters in universities across the country for Arab American undergraduate, graduate, and medical school students pursuing careers in healthcare. The University of Michigan has an undergraduate student chapter, found here and on Maize Pages. 
• National Iranian American Council: The mission of this nonpartisan, nonprofit organization is to give voice to the Iranian-American community. 
• Palestinian American Medical Association: The Palestinian American Medical Association (PAMA) is a humanitarian, nonprofit, nonpolitical, and charitable organization that promotes educational achievements and expertise of Palestinian health care professionals providing health care in West Bank and Gaza.
• Syrian American Medical Society: This is a global medical relief organization working on the frontlines of crisis relief in Syria and beyond. SAMS is committed to providing dignified medical care to every patient in need.
• SNABPI: This is a peer-to-peer network exclusively for Somali-North American entrepreneurs and professionals. SNABPI enables entrepreneurs to learn from each other to enhance the success of their business and personal lives. This global business/professional network of 17,000+ entrepreneurs spans nearly 50 states and Canada. 
• The Arab-American Business & Professional Association: This association hosts networking events with professionals and provides information about corporate internships.

• Diversity Inc. Career Center: This publication features job listings from the publishers of Diversity Inc., as well as helpful articles and webinars. They also feature a list of “Top 50 for Diversity”.
• Jack G. Shaheen Mass Communications Scholarship: This scholarship recognizes and awards Arab-American university students who excel in Media Studies.
• Account Spark STEM Scholarship: This scholarship awards between $2,500 and $10,000 and may be renewable for students maintaining satisfactory academic performance. The scholarship makes all grant distributions directly to the student’s affiliated college or university. To qualify students must attend an accredited college/university located within the United States.
• Khalaf Family Scholarship: The Khalaf Family Scholarships award $2,500 per student which may be renewable for up to four years for students meeting satisfactory academic progress standards. The scholarship distributes all grant funds directly to the student’s institution.
