Workforce Recruitment Program

Workforce Recruitment Program

What is WRP?

WRP is a federal government sponsored recruitment and referral program that connects college students and recent graduates with disabilities to paid summer internships and full-time positions. WRP is managed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity (ODMEO).

What are the Benefits of WRP?

  • You can get connected to paid internships and full-time positions with federal and private sector employers.
  • You will have a supportive community to help you develop your skills for future employment
  • You will learn how to market skills to employers

Who is Eligible for WRP?

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Are eligible for hiring under the Schedule A Hiring Authority
  • WRP Eligibility Requirements: Current, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate students with disabilities, and recent graduates who received a postsecondary degree on or after April 1, 2023 from a U.S. accredited college or university, are eligible to apply for WRP this fall. Students can be taking a part-time course load if it is due to a disability or because it is their final term/semester. Individuals in the WRP 2025 database who graduated between April 1, 2022 and April 1, 2023 are also eligible to reapply.

Because the federal government sponsors this program, all participants must be United States citizens.

This program is intended to assist people with disabilities that substantially limit activities of daily living in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended.

Student Registration and Application Process

Joining the WRP talent database is a two-step process for students and recent graduates.

  1. The first step is an eligibility verification. WRP’s custom USAJOBS post is linked on WRP.gov. Students and recent graduates will select “apply” on the posting and create or sign into a USAJOBS.gov account. USAJOBS recommends students and recent graduates use a personal email address so that they do not lose access to it after they graduate. Applicants will upload their proof of disability/Schedule A letter and an unofficial or official transcript from the school they currently attend or recently graduated from. Students and recent graduates have until October 10 to complete this step. After they have submitted, WRP staff will email applicants directly regarding their registration and document submission.
  2. The second step occurs after WRP staff have confirmed the student or recent graduate is eligible for WRP based on reviewing their uploaded documents. Eligible students and recent graduates will receive an email by early November inviting them to create a WRP Talent Program profile, where they will upload a resume (two pages or less) and provide information detailing their academic and work history as well as their career interests. This profile and resume will be made available to federal hiring managers for one year.

Important WRP dates to add to your calendar:

  • October 10 – Student registration closes
  • Late October – Early November- Eligible candidates are invited to complete the WRP application (Eligible candidates will have 45 days to complete their Talent Program profiles once invited)
  • Early November – Career development activity
  • Mid-December – 2026 WRP Talent Program launch
