The AMCAS application is the primary application for the vast majority of allopathic (MD) medical schools. The AMCAS application usually opens in early May. While you will not be able to submit your AMCAS application until early June, you may begin filling out the information in the required sections as soon as the application goes live. Before you start completing your AMCAS application, however, be sure to familiarize yourself with the appropriate support resources. Please note that non all U.S. MD programs subscribe to AMCAS. Also some schools in the state of Texas subscribe to the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS) If you are applying to any of these schools, you will have to complete a separate TMDSAS centralized application, which also goes live in early May.
The Ontario Medical Schools Application Service (OMSAS) is the centralized application service for applying to medical schools, in Ontario, Canada. The deadline to register and create an account for the OMSAS online application is typically mid September.
