AAMC Develops Guidelines on Writing Effective Medical School Reference Letters

RLS Letter Request Form

According to a recent survey conducted by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), 75% of allopathic medical schools (MD) expressed interest in a centralized set of instructions for reference letters' writers.  As a result, the AAMC has developed a set of guidelines on how to write effective reference letters in support of medical school application.  If you are in the process of collecting medical school reference letters, be sure to share these guidelines with your writers. If you have already collected your letters for the 2013-2014 application cycle, do not worry, since both the AAMC and the medical schools do not expect that all letter writers will use these guidelines in the first year of their release.
