UM students have taken a variety of paths to pursue their interest in the field of education. Certification is required for those interested in public/charters schools and there are undergraduate, graduate and alternative certification programs. Students promote educational causes with work in non-profit and combine their passion in areas like the environment, sports, health care, the arts and religion with education careers. There are also opportunities in higher education (eg: student affairs, faculty) and training and development .
With so many options, now is a good time to explore your interests in greater depth. Consider these questions:
• what type of learner interests you: k-12 students, college students, adult, special needs?
• what type of learning organization appeals to you: public/private schools, religious organization, non-profit/community service, health care?
Think about what appeals to you and start to build your community.
