At the University Career Center, Mariella leads pre-med, pre-health, and pre-law services. She is an active member of the Central and National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions and has served on numerous national boards, committees and task forces, including multiple terms on the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) Advisory Committee and the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions Board of Directors. She is a recipient of the CAAHP Fr. Joseph L. Walter Award in recognition of her contributions to the health professions advising community in a 12-state region. Mariella is also a former president of the Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors (MAPLA) and has served as MAPLA representative to the Pre-Law Advisors National Council. Mariella is a recipient of the MAPLA Impact Award for dedicated advising of pre-law students and valued contributions to the profession of pre-law advising.
Mariella hails from Rome, Italy, and even after many years in the U.S., still maintains a tight bond with her culture and heritage, including teaching Italian classes through the Michigan Chapter of the Dante Alighieri Society.
