At the University Career Center, Mariella oversees pre-med, pre-health, and pre-law services and supervises the UM Reference Letter Service. She is the Health Track advocate and particularly enjoys coaching UM students through their application efforts via the Med App site. She serves as University Career Center liaison to several student groups and departments and is the founding advisor of the Michigan Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta national honorary pre-health society, a three-time overall most outstanding large chapter in the country.
Mariella is an active member of the Central and National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions and has served on numerous national boards, committees and taskforces over the years, including multiple terms on the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) Advisory Committee. She is a recipient of the CAAHP Fr. Joseph L. Walter Award in recognition of her contributions to the health professions advising community in a 12-state region. Mariella is also a former president of the Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors and has served as MAPLA representative to the Pre-Law Advisor’s National Council.
Mariella hails from Rome, Italy, and even after many years in the U.S., still maintains a tight bond with her culture and heritage, including teaching Italian classes through the Michigan Chapter of the Dante Alighieri Society.
