The University Career Center Student Action Board (SAB) is made up of a diverse group of University of Michigan students who come from a wide range of schools & majors -- and who have career interests that span multiple industries and organizations.
Below are the SAB members for the 2018-2019 school year:
Alexandra is a rising junior from Ypsilanti, Michigan currently pursuing a double major in Economics and Psychology. She is involved in several academic programs across campus including peer mentorship, student outreach, and professional development. Her interest in the technology industry started from her weekly entrepreneurship seminar which featured talks from representatives of high-impact startups- and she is interested in learning more about the investment aspect of venture capital.
Brennan is a Junior from Edina, Minnesota, intending to double major in Economics and French and Francophone Studies. He is interested in work related to global health economics. This past summer, Brennan served as a business development intern for a medtech company in Singapore. On campus, he is actively involved in the Wolverine Support Network, as an executive member of his social fraternity, and was a student aid at nearby Pittsfield Elementary. In his free time, Brennan likes to travel and be outside.
Brian is a junior majoring in political science. He is a member of the University's nationally competitive debate team. Brian spent two summers working at summer camps focused on teaching high school students the basic tenets of debate, and most recently spent the summer working at a political consulting firm in Washington, D.C. He is passionate about politics and hopes to attend law school following graduation.
Dina is a current Junior in the school of LSA, with a major in Earth & Environmental Science, and a minor in BCS. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and made her way to Michigan through the POSSE Scholars Foundation. She works in a research lab with the department of Paleontology, and enjoys reading about deep-sea creatures.
Emily is a junior from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, majoring in Organizational Studies with a minor in writing. Emily is passionate about social justice and urban development, and has pursued her interests through involvement with the Semester in Detroit program. Emily also enjoys English and spends a great deal of time copy editing at the Michigan Daily.
Kathleen is passionate about education, educational policy, and communications. She believes education is critical in the lives of children and wants to work to increase the access to higher education for students from all backgrounds. Kathleen is highly interested in developing an awareness of how effective communication contributes to everyday interactions, business relationships and the circulation of information through media outlets. She's also a dancer and loves to perform!
Mckenzie Balaka grew up in Chelsea, Michigan and graduated from Chelsea High School. During her time at Chelsea High School Mckenzie attended The Oxbow School in Napa, California. A one semester boarding school for students who excel exceptionally in both art and academics. Mckenzie is currently a freshman at The Penny Stamps School of Art and Design, she will be pursuing a Bachelors in Fine Arts, and plans to pursue a minor in Business from the Ross School of Business.
Nina is a Sophomore from the city of Thousand Oaks, California pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in Community and Global Public Health with minors in Environment and Political Science. On campus, Nina is a member of the Dean of Students Advisory Board, Planet Blue, SAPAC, and an incoming member of Habitat for Humanity. This past summer, Nina worked in the Greater Boston area on child growth and development. Besides her aspirations in the field of environmental public health, she hopes to spread her passion for hardcover books and the written word in all forms for years to come.
Noreen is a senior majoring in economics. On campus Noreen is involved with Family Faith Formation, MES, Entrepreneurship Creativity Group, and is a TA for Finance 302. After graduation Noreen plans to pursue a career in accounting.
Rushabh is a Sophomore pursuing a major in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Economics. On campus, Rushabh is a senator for the Engineering Student Government, an avid volunteer for Best Buddies and an active member in several other societies. In fact, Rushabh has always been passionate about community engagement and leadership. He was born in India, raised in Hong Kong, and he studied in a British school. Aside from his campus involvement, Rushabh loves to take photos, go hiking, and play football (soccer) and basketball.
