Did you notice the mannequins being dressed in the Diag on the first day of classes? Did you ask why they were there or did you continue to walk, still wondering what they could possibly be for?
If you let your curiosity get the best of you, you would have stopped and learned that the University Career Center has a Clothes Closet and is hosting two events this September.
To introduce this event, the University Career Center had students decide what was business casual and business professional; allowing them to demonstrate their skills in these areas by dressing up mannequins on the Diag to reflect the specific looks.
The mannequins’ clothing were from the articles donated for students to use for opportunities ranging from professional events to job interviews.
The September events give all students the opportunity to look professional and nail the position of their dreams.
There are about 2,000 clothing items available, including name brands such as J. Crew and Men’s Warehouse. Sizes range from plus size to 00 and a lot of the clothing is new with tags (NWT).
Any University of Michigan student may attend and select up to three clothing items. Students keep the clothes they pick out so they can use them for any professional opportunities in the future.
The event also provides coaching on what clothes are considered business casual and business professional -- for any students that may be unsure. University Career Center staff will be on hand to answer any of your questions.
These events will take place at the University Career Center on September 14th & 15th from 5 - 8 pm.
