AMINTA's PICK: Recruiter - Altair

Are you interested in the technology field but programming is just not your thing? Are you naturally good with people and have a knack for reading resumes? Well a being a company recruiter for Altair could be the job for you! Altair is an engineering company that designs and develops products like engineering software and cloud computing software. Their headquarters is in Troy, MI however that have offices throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia/Pacific; so there is a possibility for you to go global.

As a recruiter you are responsible for deciding who gets chosen to work for the company so in a way you have power over the community of the workplace. I found this job by searching what positions were looking for Sociology majors and after a little scrolling this position caught my eye. I see recruiters in the office all the time and their job seems pretty fun. They get to travel to different areas meeting new people all the time. So if any of this sounds enticing try applying because this could be the job for you.

GENI'S PICK: Chemist - Research & Innovation

One of the more frequent questions I get from students studying science fields is, "Besides healthcare/medicine, what ELSE can I do with a science degree?"  There are myriad options, but sometimes identifying those opportunities seems tricky for students. My pick this week is a perfect example of one such postion. L'OREAL, the global cosmetics and beauty brand is hiring for a Chemist in their Skincare, Makeup and Haircare lab. If you have ever wandered through Sephora and pondered why some shampoos work better for certain kinds of hair, considered how to achieve a perfect lipstick red, or wished you could create a nail polish that lasts longer than anything on the market - this might be a great fit for you!  The role requires equal parts strong chemisty background and marketing savvy calling for soemeone to both "maintain awareness of scientific literature" and be part of a team that "disrupts the beauty industry and excites consumers".
