Sometimes I'll search C3 based on what intrigues me. This week I used Advanced Search-Industry-Hotel/Restaurant/Hospitality to see what I might find. There were several interesting results to peruse. One that stood out to me as I'm dreaming of warm places on cold Michigan days is the Program Coordinator at Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation. I love the idea of planning events, coordinating logistics, and otherwise supporting the Foundation's goals while under the backdrop of Napa Valley, California. The mission of Napa Valley Farmworker's Foundation connects to my values, as its objective is supporting and promoting farm workers. Great location, fast paced work, and a compelling purpose all culminating in one job-I couldn't ask for more!

For anyone with an interest in writing or communications-related internships that help create widely useful skills, the development world offers a great option. Development is another word for fund-raising, and this function is critically important for any non-profit. From museums, hospitals, and universities, all the way to organizations like the Red Cross, United Way, and smaller groups trying to do good in local communities, raising money is how they stay afloat.
Getting some experience with professional writing and deadlines, event planning, and managing a budget is an excellent step toward a future career in a huge number of possible areas. This internship features a great summer location in Washington, DC and there is a stipend paid. Not only that, but if you're interested in this particular area of social policy and advocacy, you get the bonus of feeling like your work is supporting a cause you believe in.
