UPDATE: The Career Center has transitioned to a new platform called "Handshake". Career Center Connector is no longer accessible and has been replaced by Handshake.
Every Wednesday, join us here as we plan to highlight a few positions that we think you'll find particularly interesting. Learn more by checking out each pick on the Career Center Connector (C3). While you're there, see what other interesting opportunities you find! C3 is a great way to start exploring your career options and it is also the best way to stay informed on what you need to know as a job or internship seeker while you're a student here at U of M. Besides housing a resume builder, C3 also contains information about employer presentations, career fairs, work-shops, and on-campus interviews.

DUSTY'S PICK: The Volvo Group - Intern/Co-op Summer 2015
JOB ID: 51119
APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 21, 2015
Sometimes you just have to like a company/organization's products -- that may be all that's needed to have an interest in working for them and discovering whether or not you yourself would want to be a part of the team.
For some, Volvo may be one of those organizations.
In addition to it being Volvo that's offering this internship, another thing that caught my eye is that it seems as if this is for all class levels. You need 30 credits before you start which means that first year students could apply to as long as they meet that requirement by the start of the position.
I had a friend who interned at one of the Big 3 the summer of their freshman year and that experience was helpful to them throughout their collegiate experience and beyond. Even though they didn't end up in the automotive industry after graduation they could always pull from that internship experience for skills they learned, individuals they formed relationships with, and just the overall experience they could talk about in later interviews.
One thing about large organizations is that you can really explore so many interest -- from design to marketing to engineering to sales the possibilities are usually unlimited. Get your foot in the door and you'll have an abundance of opportunities in front of you.
