DON'S PICK: Adventure Leadership Team Internship at University of Michigan Recreational Sports
APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 26, 2018
This position is for someone that loves working outdoors, enjoys a team environment, and wants to develop facilitation and team dynamic skills.
Some past experiences have included dog sledding in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, spelunking in North Carolina, backpacking the Grand Canyon, and paddling the Huron River.
These skills can be translated and will benefit you in any career field.
NATE'S PICK: Performance and Programmatic Marketing Summer Intern at IBM
APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 25, 2018
I chose this position because: 1) it seems like a great opportunity for students interested in marketing / communications, 2) it's in a city that's regarded as a great fit for college students, and 3) it's an on-campus interview, with a well known tech company.
So in addition to it being an exciting experience for creatives / strategic types —where you'll have a say in event planning, idea execution, and problem solving — it's also a chance to first interview with IBM here on campus. No need to worry about flight and travel logistics. It'll be conveniently located within walking distance!
HANNAH'S PICK: Art Museum Teaching Internship at Mackinac State Historic Parks
APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 20, 2018
Mackinac State Historic Parks is dedicated to preserving and introducing people to the history of Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. Its collections include artwork and other material artifacts. They are looking for an intern to teach and oversee art in the Kids' Art Studio at the Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum on Mackinac Island. Other duties could include helping with special events and tours.
To find this internship, I selected "Internship" under Job Type and searched for "Michigan" in the Location box. Additionally, this internship seems like a great opportunity to develop leadership and customer service skills. It also seems like a perfect fit for anyone interested in art, history, or working with children.
