By using your UM uniqname and password, you can check the status of your file anytime. If you don’t have a UM uniqname and account, you can contact The University Career Center’s Reference Letter Service (RLS) at 734/764-7459 or e-mail email@example.com and the staff will be glad to assist you.
Review online the status of your file: check to see if your writers have indeed submitted letters on your behalf and see when and where your letters were sent upon your request. Contact the RLS if you have any questions. Please note that during peak times, it may take up to three (3) business days for a letter received by the RLS to appear on your online account—please plan accordingly.
Occasionally, you—as the file holder—or one of your reference givers—the letter’s author—may wish to remove a letter from your file. Once submitted to the UM Reference Letter Service, reference letters become property of the University of Michigan and cannot be released to either you or the letter author. However, upon submission of the appropriate form, letters may be permanently removed from a file either at your request (as the file holder) or at the author’s request.
