The Institute for Social Change is an intensive, hands-on workshop that will take place from August 18-21, 2014. Participants will explore the practical and conceptual dimensions of public scholarship, engaged pedagogy, and community-based research through site visits, group activities, panel discussions, and personalized feedback.
Students accepted to the institute will reflect on their personal and professional goals, explore diverse modes of public scholarship, envision how to link their scholarly and pedagogical interests with the public good, and hone their ability to effectively engage in collaborative work that enriches civic life while contributing to a more democratic society.
Rackham students from all disciplines are eligible to apply. Space is limited to 25 participants.
Facilitators will include Dr. Matthew Countryman; Elizabeth Werbe; and public scholars from diverse disciplines and professional backgrounds.

Participation is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon acceptance, students will be asked to pay a non-refundable $20 fee to guarantee their participation in the program and cover supplementary costs.
