Majors and Coursework
There is no pre-medical major at the University of Michigan. Because
medical schools do not have any specific preferences for particular
undergraduate majors, you have a great deal of freedom in selecting
a major. Students applying to medical school choose every major
from Art to Zoology. Some students choose to concentrate in one
of the sciences and others choose to focus on other areas. You are
encouraged to choose a major that interests you, while weaving the
required pre-medical courses into your elected curriculum. Follow
your heart and make the most of your undergraduate education to
help you develop a well-rounded academic background. Pre-medical
counselors at The Career Center are happy to work with you and discuss
ideas for potential majors based on your interests, skills, and
career goals.
For assistance with specific pre-medical coursework, please refer
to LSA
pre-medical academic advising and/or call 734-764-0332 to schedule
an appointment with an LSA pre-health academic advisor in 1255 Angell
Hall.
