Application Services
The application to medical school is generally a two-stage process.
Most of the allopathic (MD) schools use the American Medical College
Application Service (AMCAS)
as the first step in the application procedure, i.e., the primary
application.
The public allopathic medical schools and the osteopathic medical
school in Texas utilize the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application
Service (TMDSAS).
The Ontario medical schools (McMaster University, Northern Ontario
School of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Queen’s University,
University of Toronto, and The University of Western Ontario) utilize
The Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS)
as their non-profit centralized application service.
Osteopathic (DO) schools use the American Association of Colleges
of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS)
as their primary application service.
The second stage of the application process for both osteopathic
and allopathic medical schools will involve a secondary
application from individual medical schools.
