Freshmen Orientation at the Winter Career Expo
I’m a first year student….should I come to Expo?
First year students are encouraged to attend the career fair and this year, with over 30+ organizations interested in hiring first and second year students for internships, the Career Center is offering resources directly geared towards freshmen for them to have a very meaningful experience at the Expo.
Because career fairs can be very large and intimidating, the Career Center is offering a “Freshmen Orientation at the Career Expo.”
During the fair, freshmen will be offered the opportunity to attend one of many brief “orientation sessions” that will:
- demonstrate how to best navigate the fair
- explain how to find employers that are open to hiring First and Second-Year Students for their internships
- discuss things to say/questions to ask the employer
- offer the chance to speak with current/former students who have attended the fair
- give general advice on how to approach an employer with confidence
The orientation will be led by one of the Advisors at the Career Center, offering the student the chance to ask questions and learn the best strategies on being successful in their search. This orientation is open and encouraged for all freshmen and will give them the opportunity to experience the fair first-hand, preparing them for their current and future career search.
Our Winter Career Expo is January 23 from 2-6pm in the Union and will be offering the “Freshman Orientation” three separate times during the Expo, starting at 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30. Come meet in the lobby and a Career Advisor will be there to help you start out your Expo-attending career with success.
